SHELBY- William Edward Hopper, 69, of 518 Monroe St., Shelby went to be with his Lord & Savior on June 27, 2013, at Hospice of Cleveland County at Wendover.
A native of Cleveland County he was born Dec. 2, 1943. Son of the late William Son and Elizabeth Hunt Hopper.
He retired from being a certified heavy equipment operator. He was a member of Canaan Baptist Church of Shelby, NC.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son William Edward Hopper Jr.
He is survived by his wife Bonita Cansler Hopper of Shelby, one daughter Taneka L. Floyd (Darryl), of Lewisville NC, one son Orlando DeCarlos Hopper of GA, 2 brothers Andrew Hopper (Brenda) of Shelby, Ernest Hopper (Joanne) of Waco, 2 sisters Gertrude Byers of Shelby and Christine Ashe of Shelby. He also has 9 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, and nephews. He also leaves his special nephews Brian Hopper Sr., Andrew Hopper Jr, and Randy Byers.
The family is meeting at the home of Andrew Hopper at 505 Monroe St.
Visitation: The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, July 2, 2013, at Canaan Baptist Church
Funeral Service: 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 2, 2013, at Canaan Baptist Church

Internment: Internment will be at Brooks Chapel Methodist Church Cemetery
