GAFFNEY- Louis F. Lockhart, 65, of 196 Farmington Road, husband of Priscilla Hollis-Lockhart answered the Master's call on Sunday, June 24, 2012, 3:10 am, at his residence.
Louis was the son of the late Theodore Alexander Lockhart Sr. and the late Mary Gill Lockhart. He was born on May 15, 1947, in Cherokee County. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Excel Gill, two sisters Deanna Sizemore and Carolyn Lockhart.
He began his walk with God attending Divine True Holiness Church in Blacksburg. His religious experiences and community life of faithful and dedicated service was personified at Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church where he served as Deacon, Church Clerk, Pastor's Aide and coordinator of Adopt-A-Highway.
He was by trade a Master Electrical Contractor and was a retiree of Timken Co., where he was employed for 35 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a true friend to all.
In addition to his wife of 42 years, he is survived by a daughter, Demetra E. Turner, a son-in-law Mark A. Turner of Sumter, a granddaughter, Marciah D. Turner, of Atlanta, and a grandson, Marcus Isaiah Lockhart Turner of Sumter.
Left to cherish fond memories are his children, Phyllis D. Hollis-Garner (Ralph) and their son of Spartanburg. Sandi R. Coleman, Pierré Sherad Hollis and his children, Jody Leach and Kawetta S. Wilkins (Corey) and their children; all of Gaffney, Keli L. Lockhart of Charlotte, and Master Sergeant Jackie E. Brown of San Antonio. His devoted siblings, five sisters, Esther Whitener(Luther),of Grover, Elder Margaret Hames(Willie),of Charlotte, Barbara A. Roberts(Belton), of Kings Mountain, Mary S. Lockhart and Leatha Lockhart of Grover. Six brothers, Bro. Charles Lockhart, (Barbara) of Charlotte, Bro. William M. Lockhart (Betty),of Blacksburg, Bishop Eddie Lockhart,(Erma) of Grover, Overseer Theodore Lockhart, (Alzenia), of Blacksburg, Bro. Benjamin Lockhart,(Henrean), of Kings Mountain, Bro. Ronnie Lockhart,(Deborah) of San Antonio, and Melvin Sizemore, (widower of Deanna) of Blacksburg.
Honorary Bearers will be Granard High School Class of 1966. Pallbearers will be the Deacons and Trustees of Mt Sinai Missionary Baptist Church. Flower Bearers will be the Deaconess and Trustees' wives of Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church.
Visitation: The family can be contacted at the home.
Funeral Service: Thursday, 11 a.m. Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church
Officiated By: Rev. Claude A. Wallace officiating, assisted by Rev. Charles Shippy and Rev. Ramon Gibbs
Burial: Committal and Interment with Military Rites will follow in the church cemetery.
Funeral Home: The Gilmore Mortuary
Memorials: Meals on Wheels, Gaffney SC., Gibbs Cancer Center, Gaffney SC, and Spartanburg Regional Hospice, Spartanburg SC.
