CARY - Randy Byron Hartman, 67, of Cary, and until recently, of Sarasota, Fla., died on Dec. 23, 2012, after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was the son of Byron M. Hartman and the late Janois Boyles Hartman.

He was born in Toluca on Dec. 12, 1945. Randy was a graduate of Burns High School and was an Eagle Scout. He graduated from Wake Forest University and Bowman Gray School of Medicine. He did his residency in Internal Medicine at Charlotte Memorial Hospital and residency in Cardiology at the University of South Florida. He worked for many years as a Cardiologist in Sarasota, Fla. and helped found the Heart Center of Sarasota.
Randy is survived by his wife, Sandy of Cary; children, Heather Hartman and husband, Ryan Eppenberger, of Cary, Zachary Hartman and wife, Jessica, of Durham, and Victoria Hartman of Philadelphia, Pa.. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Nick and Lucy, and father, Byron M. Hartman of Shelby.
At his request, his body was donated to Bowman Gray School of Medicine and there will be no services.
