SHELBY - Kathy McSwain Sequoyah, 60, died Thursday, Feb. 13, 2014, at her home. Born in Cleveland County on Sept. 23, 1953, she was the daughter of the late James Plato and Ethel Padgett McSwain.
Kathy was a member of Piney Mountain Baptist Church in Ellenboro. Kathy worked in the office at Speciality Lighting for 22 years before she retired. She enjoyed playing cards, word puzzles and going to the mountains. Kathy was also an avid reader.
Kathy is survived by her daughter, Crystal Coleman of Lawndale and fiancée Wesley Mullinax of Shelby; a sister, Cheryl Self and boyfriend Dennis Brown of Lawndale; adopted son, Kenny Green of Shelby; adopted daughter, Leslie Scott of Polkville; and lifelong best friend, Norma Kidwell of Boiling Springs.
Visitation: The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. before the service. Memorial service: 7:30 p.m. Friday at Piney Mountain Baptist Church, Ellenboro
