GAFFNEY, S.C. - William Logan Sr., 78, of 465 Lockhart Lane, Gaffney, died Monday, Feb. 17, 2014, at his residence.
He was born on Jan. 19, 1936, in Cleveland County to the late Albert and Sinia Manning Logan.
William was a member of the New Ellis Chapel Baptist Church where he was a deacon and sang on the choir. He also sang with the Five Stars Gospel Group for many years.
William was formerly employed with Doran Mill and retired from Hoechst Celanese.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Rachel Jeanette Logan; five brothers, Albert Camp, A.G. Logan, Doc Camp, Marshall Logan and Andrew Logan; and three sisters, Grace Camp, Geneva Byers and Jessie Barrow.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Frances Logan; four sons, William Logan Jr. of Gastonia, Kenneth Bernard Logan of Lawndale, Kerry Jerome Logan of Hickory, and Tyrome Almondo Logan (Gerri) of Shelby; two daughters, Alice Mosley (Walter) of Mooresboro, and Ressie Ann Logan of Lawndale; 13 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 2 p.m. at New Ellis Chapel Baptist Church with the Rev. Albert Ponder officiating.
Burial will follow at Sunset Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday.
The family will also receive friends at the home of his son, Tyrome Logan, 933 Kings Rd., Apt A, Shelby.
