SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Robert Henry Gantt, 91, of Spartanburg, S.C., died Monday, Feb. 24, 2014, at his home. Born June 21, 1922, in Cleveland County, he was the son of the late John Wesley and Maggie McSwain Gantt, and husband of the late Thelma Elizabeth Cornwell Gantt. A U. S. Army veteran of World War II, Mr. Gantt was retired from Ingles and A&P grocery. He was a member of River Hills Baptist Church and American Legion Post #28.
Survivors include his daughters, Sheila Barnwell (Richard) of Bat Cave, Ilene Sanders (Steve) of Kings Mountain, Robin Dobyns (Roy) of Boone, and Susan Gantt of the home; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Visitation: The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church. At other times, the family will be at the home.
Funeral service: 2 p.m. Thursday at River Hills Baptist Church
Officiated by: The Revs. Kent Smith and Roy Dobyns
Burial: With military rites by American Legion Post #28, will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307.
Funeral home: Floyd's North Church Street Chapel is serving the family.
Memorials: May be made to River Hills Baptist Church, 5762 Reidville Road, Moore, SC 29369, or flowers will be accepted.
