KINGS MOUNTAIN - Charles Edward Wilson, 87, a resident of 1506 Washington Street, died Saturday, March 22, 2014, at Kings Mountain Hospice House. Born in Cleveland County, he was a son of the late Martin Luther Wilson, Sr. and Essie Pearl Allman Wilson.

He was also preceded in death by his brother Martin Luther Wilson, Jr.
He was a former member of the Kings Mountain Rotary Club, Citizens Who Care, Kings Mountain and the N.C. Army National Guard Association, and a member of First Baptist Church, Kings Mountain, where he sang in the choir. Charles also donated the sound system for the hearing impaired at First Baptist Church and East Gold Street Wesleyan Church.
He served in the U.S. Marines during WWII and the Korean War. He retired from the N.C. National Guard after serving 35 years as a Master Sergeant with the 105th Engineer Battalion.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Coleen Brooks Wilson; sons, Fleete L. Wilson and wife Lesia of Kings Mountain and Baron L. Wilson and wife Sharon of Roxboro; brother, Robert Lee "Bob" Wilson and wife Julia C. "Judy" of Kings Mountain; sister-in-law, Sandra B. Wilson of Kings Mountain; grandchildren, Brooks Wilson and wife Megan of Gatlinburg, Tenn., Fleete L. "Chip" Wilson, II of Kings Mountain and Casey Wilson and wife Kaitlyn of Roxboro; and great-grandchild, Claire Wilson of Gatlinburg, Tenn.
Visitation: The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
Funeral service: 11 a.m. Wednesday at Ollie Harris Memorial Chapel

Interment: Mountain Rest Cemetery, with full military honors provided by the N.C. National Guard
