GREENSBORO - Malinda Howell Whitesides, 94, of Greensboro, formerly of Blacksburg, entered eternal rest on Monday, March 31, 2014, in Heartland Living Center, Greensboro. Widow of Roscoe Whitesides, she was born in Waco and was a daughter of the late Herbert and Gertrude Corry Howell Smith.

She is survived by a daughter, Clarissa W. Epps of Gastonia; granddaughter, Alexis Harris of Gastonia; a brother, Gilbert (Rose) Howell of Greensboro; sisters, Valentine (Harold) Allen of Greensboro, Evangeline Goodwin of Westbury, N.Y., Gretna Ashe of Baltimore, Md., Doris (Irvin) Holt of Salisbury, and Ruby (Charles) Hargrove of Deland, Fla.; sisters-in-law, Alice Howell of Greensboro and Doris Smith of Gaffney; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral service: 11 a.m. Monday in Hopewell Presbyterian Church in Blacksburg Officiated by: The Rev. Antoinette Gardner, and the Rev. Chineta Smith Goodjoin delivering the eulogy.
Interment: Will follow in the church cemetery.
