KINGS MOUNTAIN – Larry Eugene Hopper, 55, of Kings Mountain, died May 6, 2014, at Carolinas Medical Center-Charlotte. He was born Aug. 18, 1958, to the late Boyce and Carrie Dillingham Hopper of Kings Mountain.
Mr. Hopper was a former employee of Anvil Knit and Cleveland Memorial Hospital. He was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church. He was a graduate of Burns High School, and he attended Winston-Salem State University and Gardner-Webb University.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Fred Louis Hopper of Lawton, Okla.; sister, Valerie Hopper Coleman of Gastonia; and special friend, Wanda Bess of Kings Mountain.
He is survived by two daughters, Sherdala Wimbush Wheeler and Smeikia Wimbush, both of Kings Mountain; sisters, Debra A. Hopper of Kings Mountain, Patricia Hopper McCaskill of Gastonia and Brenda T. Jeter of Shelby; brothers, Thomas Thompson of Shelby and Darryl Ellis of Winston-Salem; aunt and uncle, Theodosia (Paul Lawrence; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Visitation: The family will be at 3391 Marshall Wolfe Road in Kings Mountain.
Funeral service: 3 p.m. Friday at Mount Zion Baptist Church, Kings Mountain
