FOREST CITY - Worth Reid Davidson, 78, of Forest City, died Saturday, May 10, 2014, at 6:52 p.m. Born Feb. 13, 1936, in Rutherford County, he was the son of Nathan Worth Davidson and Elma Reid Davidson, both deceased, both of Rutherford County. He was the grandson of Elisha E. Davidson and Eula I. Davidson and of John Reid and Bessie Hopper Reid.

He graduated from Harris High School and later served in the U.S. Army stationed in Germany. He was formerly an employee of Delta Airlines, based in Detroit, Charlotte, and Miami; of Polynesian Airlines, based in Apia, Western Samoa; chief flight instructor of several different flight schools in Honolulu, Hawaii, Spartanburg, S.C., and Shelby; and most recently as landlord of several single family dwellings in the Danieltown area of Rutherford County.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Elizabeth, of 42 years, formerly of USC Upstate, Spartanburg, S.C.; four first cousins from the paternal side, Alma Jean Webster Clark and Shirley Webster Wells of Rutherfordton, Jacqueline Davidson Sparks of Monroe, and Eugene Davidson of Conover; and a number of more distant cousins from the maternal side.
In lieu of flowers, Worth Davidson requested that remembrances of him be donations to cancer research or to Hospice. Also, Worth Davidson donated his body to medical research and requested that no formal service be held for his passing, but that he be remembered in private prayer.
