CHERRYVILLE - William L. "Bill" Goins, 80, passed away July 21, 2014, at the W.G. "Bill" Hefner V.A. Medical Center in Salisbury.

Bill was born in Cleveland County on May 3, 1934, son of the late Clarence Goins and Barbara Moss Goins.

He was retired as a long line driver with Cargo Transport. As a child Bill grew up in Cleveland County and attended Buffalo Baptist Church in Shelby, he later moved his membership to Gospel Way Baptist Church in Cherryville where he served as a former Trustee. Bill proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy and U.S. Air

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Joan Harris Goins; second wife, Bessie Hamrick Goins; and a brother, Carroll Goins.

Survivors include two sons, Randy Goins and wife Wanda and Jarrod Goins; three daughters, Cheryl Underdown, Pam Goins, Tracy Crawley and husband Tony all of Lincolnton; a sister Irene Grigg of Kings Mountain; 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday at Buffalo Baptist Church with the Rev. Freddie Grigg of-ficiating.

Visitation will be from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. Thursday prior to the service at the church.

Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery with Military Honors provided by Cherryville American Le-gion Post 100 Honor Guard.
