Born in Union County, S.C., Dorothy was the daughter of the late Sol and Nettie Gist Anderson. Dorothy at a very young age became a member of Shoal Creek Baptist Church. She served as a missionary and sang on the Senior Choir. She was a faithful attendant until the declining health of her husband and then herself.
