CHERRYVILLE - Mr. John Ernest Bumgardner, 82, of 700 Self St., Cherryville, died Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2009, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center in Shelby.

Born Nov. 12, 1927, in Cleveland County, he was a son of the late Charlie Garfield Bumgardner and Essie Georgeanna White Bumgardner. Mr. Bumgardner retired from Dicey Fabrics.
In addition to his parents, a son, Charles Matthew Bumgardner; two brothers, Dwight and Hubert Bumgardner; and a sister, Mary Dee Nance, preceded him in death.
Mr. Bumgardner is survived by his wife of 48 years, Pearl Garver Bumgardner; two sons, Bobby Andrew Bumgardner and wife, Tara, of Shelby and Donnie Bumgardner and wife, Helen, of Boiling Springs; and three grandchildren, Casey Bumgardner of Boiling Springs, Matthew Bumgardner of Shelby and Grace Bumgardner of Shelby.
Funeral: Thursday, Nov. 19, 2009, at 3 p.m. in Stamey Funeral Home Chapel
Visitation: The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour before the service.
Burial: Palm Tree United Methodist Church Cemetery
