VALDESE - Doyle Martin Moore, 94, passed away peacefully on Sept. 10, 2012 at Hospice House of Union County, surrounded by her family.

Mrs. Moore was born March 27, 1918, in Cleveland County, a daughter of the late Clem and Elsie Beam Martin.

She graduated from Fallston High School and Lees McRae College. Mrs. Moore was employed as the executive secretary with Alba-Waldensian, Inc. Valdese for 20 years. After retirement she volunteered as a pink lady at Valdese General Hospital and oversaw the care of a good friend in her declining years. Doyle enjoyed traveling and camping with her beloved JC, as well as gardening, toll painting and reading. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Valdese, where she was active in the church circle and other church related activities. Doyle loved being with her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband, of 53 years, J.C. Moore, two brothers, and two sisters.

Surviving are her children, Maratha M. Gilmore of Charlotte, John C. Moore and wife Glenda of Lawrenceville, Ga., grandchildren, Susan E. Gilmore, Richard Gilmore Jr., and wife Michelle and John C. Moore and wife Virginia. Also surviving are six great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service for Doyle Moore will be held 2 p.m. Friday in the Chapel of Heritage Funeral Service with the Rev. Jimmy Black and John Moore offi-ciating.

Interment will follow in the Burke Memorial Park.

A celebration of life will be from 12:30 until 2 p.m. Friday at Heritage Funeral Service, Valdese.
