SHELBY-Edward "Ed" M. Minor Jr. of Shelby, 72, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012, after a long, courageous battle with cancer.
Ed was born in Augusta, Ga. on June 10, 1940, to the late Malcolm and Becky Cloud Minor. He married the love of his life, Mary Ann Hogan Minor on Aug. 15, 1965. Ed was employed as a salesman with Clyde A. Short Co. Prior to his passing, he enjoyed flying, motorcycles and traveling. He had a special passion for music/singing and a voice that touched so many lives. Ed was very active with Relay for Life and dedicated many years serving on the Executive Committee along with family and dear friends. He was a loving Christian, son, husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to so many. Spending time with his family and witnessing to others were his greatest passions.
In addition to his parents, Ed is preceded in death by two grandchildren, Brett and Brady Green.
Ed is survived by his loving wife of 47 years Mary Ann; a daughter, Michelle and fiancée Jay Partin Jr. of Shelby; a son, Michael and wife Michelle of Harrisburg; five beautiful grandchildren, Benjamin Green, Gavin, Grant, Ansley, and Eliza Minor; two brothers, Wayne Minor of McRae, Ga., and Neal Minor of Eastman, Ga.; and a multitude of dear friends.
Visitation: The family will receive friends from 2:30 to 4 p.m. in the sanctuary before the service.
Celebration of Life Service: 4 p.m. Saturday in the sanctuary of First Baptist Church
