ELLENBORO-Robert O. Jackson, 86, of Ellenboro, died Thursday, Nov. 29, 2012, at Hospice House.
Robert was born Jan. 22, 1926, in Rutherford County to the late William Edley Jackson and Selma Rollins Jackson. Robert served in the United States Navy, serving on a mine sweeper during World War II. After the war, he met and married his wife of 66 years, Velma Horton Jackson. He spent the rest of his life until retirement as a union carpenter. After living in Florida and Pigeon Forge, he moved back home to Rutherford County, where he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Belinda Collins; sisters, Ocie Brooks, Lillie Mae Dolin, and Margaret Horton; and one brother, Roy D. Jackson.
He is survived by one son, Ronald O. Jackson of Ellenboro; three grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.
Visitation: The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Funeral Service: 2 p.m. Sunday at Harrelson Funeral Chapel
