SHELBY- Louis N. Barts, 89, of 1211 Crestview Drive, Shelby, passed away Saturday, June 15, 2013, at Hospice of Cleveland County.
A native of Cabarrus County, he was the son of the late Welden Greene and Dalia Black Barts. He was a game warden with North Carolina Wildlife and Fisheries, serving as Sergeant in Charge of District 8, which includes Cleveland County. A veteran of World War II, he served in the Pacific Theater as a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps. He was of the Methodist faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jim Russell Barts.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Maryland Safrit Barts; sons Louis N. Barts Jr. "Sonny" and wife, Darlene, and Tony Britt Barts, of Shelby; sisters, Lois Baltese of Albemarle and Varina Shine Lowder of Kannapolis; and a grandson, Joshua Caleb Barts of Shelby.
Visitation: The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the Chapel
Funeral Service: 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Lutz-Austell Funeral Home Chapel
Officiated By: the Rev. Stan Webb officiating
Burial: 4 p.m. Carolina Memorial Park in Concord.
Funeral Home: Lutz-Austell Funeral Home is serving the Barts family.
Memorials: The family requests that memorials, in lieu of flowers, be made to Hospice of Cleveland County.
