KINGS MOUNTAIN-- Ray Childers, 87, resident of Summit Place, went to be with the Lord on Oct. 1, 2013, at Summit Place. He was born in York County, S.C., to the late Samuel Teal Childers and Myrtle Mauney Childers. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Catherine Dover Childers; and a son, Randy Ray Childers.

He was a member of Dixon Presbyterian Church and retired from Minnette Mills, Grover. Mr. Childers was a farmer and served in the United States Army during World War II. He was a loving husband, father, brother and grandfather.
He is survived by a son, Ricky Childers and Serena Flaherty of Hilton Head Island, S.C.; brothers, Robert Childers and wife Alda Faye, and James Childers and wife Margaret, all of Kings Mountain; sisters, Mary Goforth, and Annie Mae Berry and husband Tom, all of Kings Mountain; four grandchildren, Stephanie Childers Haddaway, McKenna Flaherty, Connor Flaherty, and Kaitlin Flaherty; and four great-grandchildren, Hunter Haddaway, Lola Haddaway, Alex Haddaway, and Creed Haddaway.
Visitation: The family will receive friends from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Harris Funeral Home, Kings Mountain
Funeral Service: 3 p.m. Thursday at Ollie Harris Memorial Chapel
