SHELBY- Jerry Collins, 75, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2013, at Crawley Memorial Hospital. A native of Cleveland County, he was born Nov. 5, 1937, son of the late Horace and Zuna Arrowood Collins. He was a member of Dover Baptist Church and enjoyed music and dancing. He retired after 33 years of service at PPG.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Alice "Babe" Marie Collins; one sister, Peggy Hudson; and one brother Louis Collins
He is survived by two sons, Mike Collins and wife Gale of Belmont, and David Collins and wife Debra of Lawndale; two sisters, Betty Allen of Kings Mountain and Coleen Hawkins of Shelby; one grandchild, Adam Collins of Lawndale; one sister-in-law, LaVonne Collins of Shelby; two brothers-in-law, Horace Hudson of Cherryville and Tommy Doster of Shelby; and his adopted family, Ruth, Austin, and Garrett Huffstetler, all of Shelby;. A special "Thank you" to friends and neighbors on Briar Creek Drive and to the doctors of Shelby Pulmonary.
Visitation: The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
Funeral Service: 2 p.m. Friday at Dover Baptist Church
Officiating: Dr. B. Ervin Price
Burial: Will immediately follow in Cleveland Memorial Park
Funeral Home: Clay-Barnette Funeral Home of Shelby is serving the family.
