Charles (Chuck) Arthur Alben

SHREVEPORT, LA - Graveside services for Chuck Alben will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, March 14, 2008 at Forest Park Cemetery on St. Vincent Avenue, followed by a memorial service at Osborn Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. Officiating will be Rev. David Melville of Fellowship United Methodist Church.

Charles Alben was born October 30, 1932 in Shreveport, Louisiana and passed away on March 8, 2008 at Willis Knighton Medical Center following a brief illness. Mr. Alben was preceded in death by his wife, Joan Melton Alben in September 2006 whom he lovingly cared for during their 44 years of marriage and in her final years as she battled Alzheimer's. He was also preceded by his parents, Dr. Arthur Alben and Alice Strong Alben; his grandson, Brian Ronk; and his niece, Kathy Drabik.

Survivors are his daughters, Pamela Alben of New York City and Sharon Ronk and her daughters, Lindsey and Addison Ronk of Tulsa, Oklahoma. He is also survived by his sister, Eleanor Alben Drabik and her husband, Edward, of Vancouver, Washington; and niece, Alice Drabik of Bellingham, WA.

Mr. Alben graduated from Principia College in Elsah, Illinois in 1954. After graduation from college he joined the Marine Corp and was an officer serving his country for four years.

He had a successful and lifelong career with National Cash Register Company until he retired as District Manager in 1991. Following his retirement Mr. Alben enjoyed playing golf, serving as usher in his church, watching LSU Tigers football games, and spending time with his friends and family.

Honorary pallbearers will be C. C. Chamberlain, Scot Dunlop, Roy Fish, Ed Flint, Al Harper, and Milton Pearce.

The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to Jeff Crane and Rebecca Hogan of the Resource Center for ElderCare Solutions, Gary Moore and Donna LaCour of Argent Financial Group, the staff of Kingsley Place, Sheri Davidson and Paul Ware, M.D.
