Charles Hugh Forrester
SHREVEPORT, LA- Family and friends will celebrate the life of Charles Hugh Forrester, 88, at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept 12, 2013 at St. Mary of the Pines Catholic Church in Shreveport with Monsignor Carson LaCaze officiating, assisted by Father Francis Kamau. Interment will follow in Forest Park West Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, Sept 11, 2013 from 5 to 9 p.m. with a vigil at 6 p.m at Rose-Neath Southside Chapel in Shreveport.
Mr. Forrester was born on July 29, 1925 in Bastrop and went to be with his Heavenly Father on Sept. 8, 2013. Mr. Forrester was a man known for strong dedication to family. His unselfish love and support are his legacy. Mr. Forrester also left his mark in other ways. He honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy
. The World War II
veteran was a signalman/communications specialist and survived the attack on Pearl Harbor.
Mr. Forrester was a longtime salesman for the Liddell Company, retiring in 1984 after 37 years. He was an original member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Shreveport.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Mary Elizabeth Bullock; a brother, William LeMier; and a son, Paul Hugh Forrester.
Mr. Forrester married the love of his life, Lois Elaine Richmond Forrester, on Jan 27, 1949. She survives him after 64 wonderful years of marriage, along with children Ralph Forrester and wife Francie of Elm Grove, Steve Forrester and wife Dorothy of Alexandria, Mark Forrester and wife Melitta of Bamburg, Germany, Beth Forrester of Austin, Texas, Claire Crawford of Shreveport and Bill Forrester of Austin, Texas. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren who called him "PaPaw", sister-in-law Betty Boogaerts, brother-in-law Layne Bonvillian and a host of nieces and nephews.
The family is very grateful for the compassion and care shown by Dr. Robert Hernandez, Laura Perkins, Jesse Langford, Dr. Gina Miller, Earl Alexander, SPD/EMS Station No. 17 and the 4th floor nursing staff of WK-Pierremont, especially Justin, Cindy, KeeKee and Angel.
Honoring Mr. Forrester as pallbearers will be grandsons Tim Forrester, Neal Forrester, Patrick Crawford, friends Richard VanTeim, Bill Miller and Mark Miller.
Selected Honorary pallbearers are Robert Morgan, Johnny Bruton and Harold Miles.
