Clifton A. McDowell, Jr.

SHREVEPORT, LA - Mr. Clifton A. McDowell, Jr., 91, died on Tuesday, October 30, 2012, at Heritage Manor Stratmore. A private memorial service will be held for the family only.

He was born in Shreveport on September 12, 1921 and spent the last 60 years here. He was a retired co-owner of McDowell and Cook, Inc. of Vivian, LA, an oilwell drilling and workover company. He was a graduate of the University of Texas with a degree in Petroleum Engineering, a registered Professional Engineer and an Army Air Corps veteran of WW II. Mr. McDowell was a life member of the National Skeet Shooting Association, the Amatuer Trap Shooting Association and the National Rifle Association. He was a member of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association for over 50 years and was a member of the Shreveport Country Club for over 60 years.

He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Coffey McDowell of Shreveport; two sons, George McDowell and wife, Marilyn of Friends-wood, TX and Peter McDowell and wife, Leslie of Flower Mound, TX; five grandchildren, Miller McDowell and wife, Sarah, Meagan McDowell, Sean McDowell, Amanda M. Horne and husband, Nathan, and Ross McDowell; and one great grandchild, Mason McDowell.

Honorary pallbearers are Ray P. Hardey, Joe M. Coffield, C. W. Glasscock, Jr. and Lee Gunter.
