SHREVEPORT, LA-A Funeral Mass will be said at 11:00 a.m. on Monday January 7, 2013 at St. Pius X Catholic Church with Father Pike Thomas officiating. Interment with Honors presented by the U.S. Navy Honor Guard will follow in Forest Park West Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Sunday, January 6, 2012 with a Vigil included at Rose-Neath's Southside Chapel.

Cyril was born on February 27, 1925 in Lawtell, LA and passed away on January 3, 2013 in Shreveport after a lengthy illness. He was a resident of Shreveport, LA and a retired professional bus driver. He was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church and a member of Children of Light Prayer Group. He was an avid LSU Fan and enjoyed driving the LSU Band to the games. He was a WWII Veteran, serving his country in the U.S. Navy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Azelata Cortez; 4 brothers and 1 sister. Left to cherish his memory are daughters Dianna Brown; Donna Lollar and husband, Kenneth; Cynthia Babson; grandchildren, Kenneth Brown and wife, Laurie, Karen Culverhouse and husband, Jason, Rebecca Johnson and husband, Harold, Chance Lollar and wife, Candie, Donnie Lollar and wife, Dona, Jerry Joseph Rodrigues Jr., and Dana Adkins; 16 great-grandchildren; sister, Dorothy "Dottie" Cortez.

Pallbearers will be Kenneth Lollar, Harold Johnson, Kenneth Brown, Jerry Joseph Rodrigues Jr., Donnie Lollar, Chance Lollar, Wyatt Lollar, Easton Lollar and Morgan Brown.

The family extends appreciation to the Guest House staff for their loving care of Mr. Cortez.
