Donald Daniel Carpenter
Frierson, LA - Mr. Donald D. Carpenter, entered into eternal rest peacefully at his home surrounded by family on Saturday, December 8, 2012. Visitation will be held at Christ United Methodist Church on Thursday, December 13, from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. with services following at 11:00 a.m. Officiating will be Rev. Tom Howe.
Mr. Carpenter was born on December 12, 1925, in Burkburnett, Texas, to Daniel Clay and Ammah Thompson Carpenter. He was a graduate of the University of Oklahoma, with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He served his church faithfully as a charter member in many capacities including singing in the choir. Daddy enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing and dutch-oven cooking. He was a life member of NRA, Junior Achievement and many other charities.
Mr. Carpenter served in the U.S. Army
for 2 years and was a veteran of WWII
. He retired after 36 years from Beard Industries as Manager of Product Development and was a registered professional engineer in the state of Louisiana.
Mr. Carpenter was preceded in death by his parents. Don was the best husband you could have and hoped for. He loved his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 60 years, Sue Edwards; children, Donald Daniel Carpenter, Jr., and wife, Jamie, Janie Griffith and husband, John and William James Carpenter and wife, Diana; grandchildren, Amy Pierrelee and husband, Travis, Megan Redmon and husband, Chris, Kristen Shelton and husband, Murphy, Jesse Basco and wife, Elizabeth, Melissa Vaitkus and husband, Mike, Clay Carpenter and Cara Carpenter; great grandchildren, Sydney, Maggie, Hollier, Lucas, Madeline, Grayson and Connor; and sisters, Margie Alton, Susan Pettit and Mary Lou Simmering.
Papaw will be greatly missed by all he left behind but we rejoice in knowing that he has been joined with his Lord.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Home Care of Hope for their care of daddy.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to a charity of donor's choice.
