Dovie N. Ellerbe Borden
Bossier City, LA - Dovie Borden passed away on November 10, 2012. Visitation will be at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Bossier City on Monday, November 12, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. to 7 p.m. Service will be held in the Rose-Neath Chapel at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 13 with Rev. Harrell Shelton, Associate Pastor of Airline Baptist Church officiating. Graveside services will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Mulhearn Memorial Park in Monroe, Louisiana.
Dovie was born on February 28, 1919 in Nebo, Louisiana to Jack and Florence Netherland. She is preceded in death by her parents and six siblings. Dovie is also preceded in death by her husband of forty-seven years Truman Ellerbe. She and Truman raised their two sons in Crossett, Arkansas. After Truman's death, Dovie moved to Shreveport where she later married Harley Borden of Harleton, Texas. She had ten happy years with him before his death in 1999.
In 2000, Dovie moved to Horizon Bay (then Merrill Gardens) before health made it necessary to move to Pilgrim Manor. Becoming active in any and all activities, she made the most of her circumstances at both of these places. The family would like to give special thanks to staff and caregivers who took such great care of our mom. A special thank you is given to Helen Greene and Christina Harris and Christus-Schumpert Hospice.
Left to cherish many wonderful memories are her two sons and their wives, Ron and Susie Ellerbe of Birmingham, Alabama and Don and Claire Ellerbe of Bossier City; five grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
Anyone who knew "Miss Dovie" loved her for her spunk, her determination but mostly for her positive thinking. These attributes and her strong Christian faith gave her the strength she needed to handle the difficulties of her last years.
Pallbearers will be Raymond Aycock, Glynn Osment, Steve Roe, Tracy Roe, Bob Shadow, and Bert Wall.
Memorials can be made to Airline Baptist Church Children's Building Fund.
