Mrs. Wimberly was born on May 18, 1922 in New Orleans, LA to Martin and Blanche Ripp and passed away on January 1, 2013. After completing school, Mrs. Elaine enlisted in the United States Navy
and served her country as a Navy nurse. It was in San Diago where she met her soon to be husband, Hugh Wimberly. After falling off a ship and injuring his back, Mrs. Elaine nursed him back to health. It was against the rules for officers to fraternize with enlisted servicemen so everything had to be kept quiet. After returning home, Mr. Hugh decided he had to go get her and bring her back to Castor. They were married shortly afterwards and Mrs. Elaine continued her career as a nurse working for surrounding schools in Bienville Parish. Later on she worked with her husband as an insurance agent at Wimberly Agency, a business which they started together. She also had a "green thumb" and enjoyed growing beautiful flowers and lots of garden vegetables.
Mrs. Elaine was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Hugh Wimberly; daughter, Oma Wimberly; and her sister, Patricia Bittenbring.
Left to cherish her memories are her son, Ripp Wimberly and his wife Ann of Ringgold, LA; her daughter, Carol Stewart of Ruston, LA; sisters Doris Boudra of Jackson , MS and Peggy Major of Slidell, LA; son-in-law, Jonathan Stewart of Gibsland, LA; grandchildren, Matt Wimberly and his wife Candi, Erin Wimberly, Stacey Bergeron and her husband Gary, Shea Sullivan and his wife Leilani, Jonathan Stewart, II and Joshua Stewart; great grandchildren, Lawson Gray, Isabella Bergeron, Madelaine Sullivan, and Max Wimberly; along with a host of other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Matt Wimberly, Shea Sullivan, Jonathan Stewart, II, Joshua Stewart, Gary Bergeron and Jonathan Stewart.
