Evelyn R. Malec

Evelyn R. Malec passed away Thursday November l5, 2012 after a lengthy illness.

Services for Evelyn will be as follows; visitation will be Sunday from 5-7 PM with a vigil service at 7:00 PM at Rose - Neath Marshall St. A mass of Christian burial will be on Monday, November l9, 2012 at 10:00 AM at the Cathedral of Saint John Berchmans.

Evelyn met her husband Joseph A. Malec when he was stationed at Barksdale Air Base during WWII. They were married on December 22, 1944 and spent 68 wonderful years together.

Evelyn was a dedicated wife, mother, and friend. She was a member of the Cathedral of Saint John Berchmans and a member of Queens's workers Circle 5. Evelyn enjoyed going to the beach for vacations especially her trip to Hawaii. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. One of her favorite things was having everyone over for cake and coffee on Sunday afternoons.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; Irl H. "Shorty" Richards and Pearl Ash Richards and one grandchild, Tina Marie Brodtman.

Evelyn is survived by her husband, Joseph Ambrose Malec and five children; Christine Brodtman, Carol Chico (James), Joseph R. Malec (Elizabeth), Michael Malec (Jeannie) and Paul Malec, twelve grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons; Michael Brodtman, James Chico Jr., Brian Chico, Joseph Brodtman, Mathew Malec and Kevin Malec.

The family wishes to thank Mr. Claude Pasquier and the entire staff of Springlake Guest Care and Agape hospice especially, Donna Williams for the wonderful care given to our mother in her final days.

Memorials may be made to the St. John Berchmans Cathedral organ fund, 939 Jordan Street, Shreveport, LA, 71101.
