Howard R. White
Shreveport, LA- Services celebrating the life of Howard R. White, 65, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 28, 2012, at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home, 8801 Mansfield Rd, Shreveport, LA. Officiating will be Rev. Tom Howe of Christ United Methodist Church, where he was a member. Burial will immediately follow the service at Centuries.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at Centuries from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Howard was born on February 16, 1947, to Heyward Wyatt and Eunice Boykin White, and passed away on November 25, 2012, after a brief illness. He graduated from Fair Park High School in 1965 and attended Northwestern State University, and LSU-Shreveport. Howard also served in the Naval Reserves from 1968 to 1973. He was with Poulan-Weedeater for 37 years, and was currently working as a realtor with Coldwell Banker. Howard was very involved in youth sports, serving as a coach and an umpire for over 30 years.
Howard is pre-deceased by his parents, and brother, Richard Allen White. He is survived by his wife, Elaine Burton White, of 41 years, and sons Benjamin Allen White of Shreveport, LA and Daniel Brian White and wife Sarah of Austin, TX; sister, Carolyn Vercher of Houston, TX; brother, Sam White and wife Brenda of Greenwood, LA; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Honoring Howard as pallbearers will be Walter Bennett, Roger Braniff, Mickey Burton, Richard Connell, Larry Ferguson, Bob Morrison and Chris Peck.
Howard was a loving husband and father who would do anything for anyone. He was an avid LSU and Saints fan, loved music, sports, painting, and working outdoors. Howard will be dearly missed by all that knew him.
