James W. Mericle
Shreveport, LA - Mr. James W. Mericle, 90, passed away on Tuesday, August 20, 2013, at the Northwest LA War Veterans Home, after a lengthy illness. Visitation will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 22, at Osborn Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 23, 2013, at Woodbridge Baptist Church, 850 E. Bert Kouns Ind. Dr. Officiating will be Rev. Chuck McInturf of Woodbridge Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Forest Park Cemetery, St. Vincent Ave.
J.W. was a native and lifelong resident of Shreveport, LA. He was a member of the Woodridge Baptist Church, Happy Hearts. He served in the U.S. Army
and retired form SporTran as a bus driver.
Mr. Mericle was preceded in death by his father, Clent A. Mericle; mother, Dema Mericle; and brother, William H. Mericle. He is survived by his wife, Lou Mericle; daughters, Marilynn D. Sanchez and husband, Andy and J. Gayle Mericle and husband, Kenneth Clontz; step-children, Johnnie Johnson and Linda Kennedy; grandchildren, Tracy Brey and husband, Bill and Jessica Kennedy; six great grandchildren, Hannah M. Gray, Cody Rogers, Tyler Brey, Alex Brey, Wendy Brey, Nicholas Brey and Adam Kennedy; and brother, Wade Mericle and wife, Virginia.
Pallbearers will be John Garner, Jimmy Shelton, Kenneth Kimbrell, John Kish, Alton Johnson and Melvin Weaver.
Honorary pallbearer will be Mr. A. T. Bunn.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Wanda Harris and the staff of the Northwest LA War Veterans Home and the members of Woodbridge Baptist Church for their many kindnesses to Mr. Mericle and his family.
