Heflin, LA We celebrate the life of Lonnie Edward Mizell, born January 5, 1921, a kind and loving father, son, and husband. He passed away on October 13, 2013.

He was preceded in death by his wife Imogene Warren Mizell, his father John Edward Mizell, his mother Mary Josephine Mizell Brunson, and sister Cortez Daniel.

He is survived by one son, Lonnie Scott Mizell, wife Susan; one stepson, Wayne Cooper; two daughters, Patricia Mizell Price and husband Bill; and Karon Mizell Hood and husband Richard; one sister, Johnnye Mae Madden; four grandchildren Carla Lindsey Hildebrand, Bossier City; Brian Jackson Glymph, Nacogdoches, Texas; Sarah Collier Bradford, Dallas, Texas; Jason Scott Mizell, Little Rock, Arkansas; seven great-grandchildren.

He is a veteran of World War II, serving from 1943 until the end of the war, earning a bronze and silver medals in the Battle of the Ardennes. He was a dairy farmer in Webster Parish for approximately 30 years and retired from Madden Contracting in the 1990s.

We wish to express our sincerest appreciation to Dr. Fleniken and the entire staff at the Northwest Louisiana War Veterans Home for the outstanding care that Dad received during his stay there.

Services will be held Wednesday, October 16, 2013 at 10 a.m. at Bistineau Baptist Church in Heflin. Officiating will be longtime family friend Rev. Wayne Whiteside. Interment will follow at Bistineau Cemetery in Heflin under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden.

Pallbearers will be Brian Glymph, Bryan Hildebrand, Noah Hildebrand, James Madden, Charles Madden, and Jason Mizell.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bistineau Cemetery Association, 371 Bistineau Church Road, Heflin, Louisiana 71039.
