Marie G. Roberts
SHREVEPORT, LA -Funeral services celebrating the life of Marie G. Roberts, 85, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 24, 2013 at Rose-Neath's Southside Chapel with Rev. John Harp officiating. Interment will follow in Centuries Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. Sunday, June 23, 2013 at the funeral home.
Marie was born on March 16, 1928 to Jimmie O. and Myrtle Griffin and passed away on June 21, 2013. She was a resident of Shreveport where she was a homemaker. Marie enjoyed several hobbies: fishing, crocheting, quilting, making jelly, and cooking for others. She was an avid Ladies Techsters fan with season tickets and she attended every game she could. She worked in the nursery at Brookwood Baptist Church for many years and loved all her babies. Marie loved people. She and her husband, Bruce, grew Muscadines in her back yard, which she made into jelly and was proud to share. Her favorite thing was to go fishing and then fry the fish she caught for her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband, Wallace (Bruce) Roberts, Sr.; son, Wallace (Bruce) Roberts, Jr.; brother, Jimmie Wayne Griffin; and sister, Johnnie Mae Malone. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Jean Roberts Stinson; son, Richard Owen Roberts, and wife, Pam; grandchildren, Amy Greenwood and husband, Chris, Jeffrey Stinson and wife, Megan, Daniel Stinson and wife, Lisa, Hunter, Randel and Morgan Roberts; great-grandchildren, James and Nancy Marie Greenwood, Zachary, Evan and Ethan Stinson, Ryker and Wyatt Stinson. She is also survived by her double first cousins, Leta Ambrose and husband, Jimmy and Jerry Griffin and wife, Anne, niece, Cheryl Procell, and a host of family, friends, and neighbors.
Pallbearers will be Jeffrey Stinson, Daniel Stinson, Hunter Roberts, Morgan Roberts Ronnie Slack, and Mark Ambrose.
