Marilyn "Kaye" Chandler

BENTON, LA - Visitation for Kaye Chandler will be held from 5 to 7 pm, Thursday, December 13, 2012 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home Chapel in Bossier City, LA. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm. Friday, December 14, 2012 at Airline Baptist Church at 4007 Airline Drive, Bossier City, LA. Graveside services will follow at Rose-Neath Cemetery on Swan Lake Road, Bossier City, LA. Officiating the services will be Rev. Billy Pierce and Bro. Harrell Shelton.

Kaye Chandler of Benton, LA passed away peacefully on Monday, December 10, 2012 after a brief illness. She was born on November 28, 1946 in Ruston, LA to her loving parents, Jack and Maude Salmon of Simsboro, LA. She attended school in Simsboro and graduated from LA Tech University in Education in 1968. She was married on December 17, 1967 to Jerry Wayne Chandler of Plain Dealing, LA, also a LA Tech University graduate.

Kaye spent her life devoted to God, family and friends. She was always thinking of "little things" she could do for others instead of herself. Kaye was a loving wife, a wonderful mother and sister, a very proud Nana and the Best Friend anyone could have. She loved teaching algebra at Plain Dealing Academy, Bossier High School, Southfield, First Baptist Christian Academy, and finally Airline High School. Kaye was an active member of Airline Baptist Church, McGee Sunday School Class, Daughters of the Nile, and KKI educational sorority.

Kaye is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Jerry Chandler of Benton, LA; loving daughters, Lisa Chandler Smith and husband Jim of Benton, LA, Paige Darnell Turner and husband David of Benton, LA; her precious granddaughters, Bayleigh Kaye Darnell, Sydneigh Grace Darnell and Peighton Ryleigh Turner and "her boys". Haden Chandler Smith and Korbin James Smith; her loving sister, Elizabeth Ann "Libby" Cassibry of Bossier City, LA; sister-in-law, Judy Chandler of Doyline, LA; nephews, Robert Chandler and wife Keri of Minden, LA and their children, Katelyn and Brayden; Patrick Jackson Cassibry and wife Cara of San Diego, CA and their son, Bryan; nieces, JoLeah Montgomery and husband, Dr. William Montgomery of Plano, TX and their sons, Ben and Trysten, and Jenny Cassibry of Baton Rouge, LA.

Mrs. Chandler is preceded in death by her parents; her in-laws, Modie and Lona Chandler and brother-in- law, Bobby Chandler.

Pallbearers will be Lynn Arnold, Bruce Easterly, Donny Hood, Shelly Horton, Jerry Juneau, Dr. William Montgomery, Ron Staples, and John Thomson.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 3100 Samford Ave. Shreveport, LA 71103.
