Marlin Elbert Jackson
SHREVEPORT, LA - Marlin Elbert Jackson, 98, passed away March 16, 2014 at Overton Brooks V.A. Medical Center l in Shreveport, LA. He was born November 6, 1915 in Atlanta, TX. He was a resident of Shreveport and served in the U.S. Army
and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He was awarded the Bronze Star
for gallantry and was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans. He married Mary Ruth Carey on July 31, 1944 in Shreveport, LA.
Mr. Jackson was preceded in death by his parents, Claude Elmer Jackson and Winnie Moulder Jackson; a sister, Harcia Loretta Pruitt and a brother, Elmer Wayne Jackson. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Mary Ruth Carey Jackson, and sons; Dwight and Dwayne Jackson of Shreveport, LA; a sister, Dorothy Faye McDaniel of Shreveport, LA; a brother, Claude Monard Jackson of Bay City, TX; and a sister, Neva Frances Dickerson and husband, S.W., of Garland, TX; three grandchildren, Theresa Jeanette Jackson of Plano, TX; Philip Michael Jackson of Garland, TX; and Stephanie Marie Arnold and husband, Audie, of Benton, LA; and two great-grandchildren, Brighton and Brody Arnold.
A visitation will be held, Tuesday, March 18, 2014, from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath's Southside Chapel. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Centuries Memorial Park Cemetery. Officiating will be Rev. Mike Igo.
