Patricia Ann Shaughnessy Stricklin

Patricia Ann Shaughnessy Stricklin of Shreveport passed from this life on January 31, 2013, from complications resulting from multiple strokes. "Pat" was born on February 7, 1932, in Monroe, where she grew up. She graduated from High School at Saint Matthews Parochial School. In 1950 she married Robert (Bob) S. Stricklin of West Monroe. Bob graduated from L.S.U. in 1952 with a degree in petroleum engineering and went to work for Sun Oil. As a result, Bob and Pat spent nearly three decades living in a variety of Texas "oil towns," where they raised their five children, most notably living in Freer, Texas from 1955 to 1968 and Colorado City, Texas from 1968 to 1978. Bob and Pat were able to return to north Louisiana when Bob was transferred to Shreveport in 1978. Bob died in 1982 and Pat had lived in Shreveport since.

Pat was an avid bridge player, achieving the status of Gold Life Master, allowing her to make use of her sharp mind and even sharper wit. She loved the companionship of her friends and the challenge of the game. She was a devoted wife and mother -- always very proud of her family. She loved to entertain and to travel.

She leaves behind many loving descendants including all of her five children and their spouses: Robert (Bob) Stricklin, Jr. and his wife Lillian of Richardson, Texas; Terri Wood and her husband Bill of Argyle, Texas; Gay Attebury and her husband Kelly of Lubbock, Texas; Suzy Crump and her husband Carl, of Lafayette; and Sam Stricklin and his wife Susan of Richardson, Texas. She also leaves behind ten grandchildren: Ashley Wood Cooley and her husband Derek, Sean Wood and his wife Jeyhan, M.D., Paige Wood, Robyn Attebury, Taylor Attebury and his wife Katherine, Jonathan Crump, Amy Crump, Robert (Trey) S. Stricklin III, William Stricklin, and Samantha Stricklin; and three great grandchildren, Zooey Bella Cooley (age 6), Quincy Cooley (age 4) and Bailey Wood (a precious six weeks). She is preceded in death by her husband of thirty-two years, Robert (Bob) S. Stricklin Sr., her parents, Francis Xavier and Mary Lou Shaughnessy, six brothers and one sister, Mary Elizabeth "Dee" Shaughnessy with whom she lived for several years in later life prior to Dee's death in 1999.

The family wishes to express their sincere and deepest appreciation to the staff at The Oaks of Louisiana for their exceptional kindness and loving care of our Mother during her final months.

A memorial mass celebrating Pat's life will be held on March 9, 2013, at 1:00 p.m. at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church at 522 East Flournoy Lucas Road in Shreveport. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society, 3500 Fairfield Avenue, Shreveport, LA 71104-4108, a group devoted to helping the poor and where Pat routinely volunteered.
