Ralph James Lyman, Jr.

SHREVEPORT, LA - Ralph James Lyman, Jr. passed away on Tuesday, January 22, 2013. He was born in Hartford, Connecticut to the late Ralph James "Jack" Lyman and Madeline Gladys Storer Lyman.

He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 50 years, Hari Joan Ellis Lyman.

He is survived by his three children and their spouses; Cheryl Lyman Feldman and her husband, Ronald of College Station, TX, Terry Lyman Bernhoft and her husband, Bruce of Oak Ridge North, TX, and Richard Ellis Lyman and his wife, Cheryl of Shreveport, LA; eleven grandchildren, Ashley Melton, Chandler Melton, Sarahbeth Melton, Jamie Bernhoft Durham and her husband, Brock, Lee Bernhoft, Audrey Bernhoft, Jonathon Lyman and his wife, Tonya, Brittany Lyman, Andrew Lyman, Meredith Lyman Tucker and her husband, Greg, and Hunter Lyman; four great-grandchildren, Savanna, Mallory, Madison, Colton Tucker, and his faithful companion, his German Sheppard, Victor.

Ralph proudly served in the United States Air Force as a navigator on B36s and later B52s and was a 2nd Air Force Intelligence Officer. Ralph was promoted to the rank of Major and earned The Air Force Commendation and The Combat Readiness Medals among others, during his 20 year military career. He also received his MBA in Mechanical Engineering.

He was a 32nd degree Mason, a Shriner's Hospital volunteer, and enjoyed many hobbies including woodworking, hunting, water-skiing, boating and gardening.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday evening, January 25, 2013, at Hill Crest Funeral Home. Services will be held on Saturday, January 26, 2013, at 10:00 a.m. in the Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the Hill Crest Memorial Park with full military honors.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jonathon Lyman, Lee Bernhoft, Andrew Lyman, Chandler Melton, and Hunter Lyman.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Shriner Hospitals for Children, Shreveport, Louisiana.
