SHREVEPORT, LA- Funeral services for R.C. Carter, 90, will be held at 12:00 p.m. Monday, December 17, 2012 at Rose-Neath's Southside Chapel. Officiating will be Chaplain Mike Johnson. Interment will follow in Forest Park West Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday, December 16, 2012 at the funeral home.
R.C. was born October 21, 1922 in Calvin, LA to Robert Braxton and Elma Bagwell Carter. He passed away on December 14, 2012 in Shreveport. He graduated from high school in 1942. He served in WWII
from 1943-1945. R.C. was a member of Masonic Lodge #431, of Calvin, LA. He was a carpenter early in life but retired from Coca Cola after 25 years of service. He loved hunting, fishing, camping, and being outdoors.
R.C. was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Olah Faye Jordan Carter; and sister, Marie Carter Carpenter. Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Tracy Mechele Carter and Patricia Carter Jones and husband, James Murry Jones, Jr.; grandchildren, Steven Kyle Garrett and wife, Melissa Johnson Garrett, and Ethan Holt Carter; great-grandson, Carter Ray Garrett; sister, Arline Carter Teer of Pasadena, TX; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
