SHREVEPORT, LA- Funeral services for Sam J. Lena, 90, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 1, 2012 at Rose-Neath's Southside Chapel. Officiating will be Rev. Rick McDonald. Interment will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Shreveport, LA. Visitation with the family will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friday, November 30, 2012 at the funeral home.

Sam was born on February 12, 1922 in Shreveport to Tony and Santa Rose Lena. He passed away at the NW Louisiana War Veterans Home in Bossier City on November 28, 2012. He was a resident of Shreveport where he was a truck driver. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He enjoyed gardening and recycling reusable products and attending church. All who knew him will truly miss him.

Preceding him in death were his parents; wife, Willie Mae; sons, Tony and Sam Jr.; brothers, Frank, Carlo, Jack, Joe, Charlie, and Vince; sister, Rosa. He is survived by daughters, Sarah Ellis and husband, Mike, Glenda Smith and husband, Lester, Annette Lewis and husband, John; grandchildren, Kelli Roberson, Tina Rawlins, Kandi Thompson, Karen Bamburg, Daniel Smith, Tammy Henderson, Kathi Garcie, Paul Ford, Jerome Lewis and Lacey Bamburg; 10 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Grace Young.

Pallbearers will be Michael McIntosh, Matthew McIntosh, Daniel Smith, Paul Ford, B.J. Seidel and J.C. Thompson.

A special thanks to his grandson, Paul Ford who lived with him and cared for him for the past 3 years.
