S.B Brinkley, age 80, of Shreveport, LA, passed away at home on Tuesday, December 25, 2012 from a terminal illness. Family visitation will be on Friday, December 28, 2012 from 5-8 p.m. at Rose-Neath Southside Funeral Home in Shreveport. Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. Saturday, December 29, 2012 at Rose-Neath Southside Chapel officiated by Dr. Carlos Spaht. Burial will follow at Forest Park Cemetery.
S.B. was born March 08, 1932 in Hicks, Louisiana. He joined the Marines at an early age and earned many achievements and medals including: The Korean Service Medal, U.N. Service Medal, National Defense medal, Letter of Commendation w/combat V, and Good Conduct Medal.
S.B. was preceded in death by his parents, Hansford and Mary Brinkley, his loving wife of over 50 years Betty Jo Brinkley. He was also the last surviving sibling out of 5 children. He is survived by his son, Benny Joe Brinkley and wife Glenda, daughters, Sharon Ashcraft and husband John, Dana Clifton and husband Steve. Grandchildren, John Ashcraft Jr., Tana Ashcraft and Dee Dee Parrish and numerous Great Grandchildren.
S.B. was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was loved by many and could put anyone in better spirits as he lit up the room. S.B. was a God fearing man who loved the Lord and loved to share it with the unfortunate and sick. S.B.'s faith stayed strong even till it was his time to go be with the "Lord". A special thank you to Dr. Gary Hensley and his staff for taking such good care of our Dad at the V.A. Hospital while he was in their care.
Honorary Pallbearers will be John Ashcraft, Jr. and Adam Ashcraft. Also, pallbearers include Robert Rice, Jeff Pugh, Joe Duke and Jason Beck.
