Tommy Gorden Cassel

Services celebrating the life of Tommy Gordon Cassel, will be held at 10am Saturday, February 9, 2013 in the Rose-Neath Funeral Home Chapel on Marshall Street. Officiating the services will be Kent Judkins, the first counselor to Stake President of the Shreveport Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints. Interment will follow at Cassel Cemetery in Converse, LA. The family will receive visitors on Friday, February 8, 2013 from 6pm to 8pm at the funeral home.

Tommy was born May 16, 1924, in Converse, Louisiana to parents Perry R. Cassel and Emma S. Bolton. He entered into rest on February 4, 2013. He was 88 years old. He was preceded in death by both parents; two sisters, Avis Marie Thomas and Gertrude Adelie Raye. Tommy is survived by his wife, Mary Vergalie Cobb, the couple would have celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary on March 10, 2013.

He is also survived by his only child, Lillian Diann Dubree and husband Stanley; grandchildren, Melanie Fletcher Connor and husband Dr. Pat Connor, Gregory Scott Fletcher and wife, Cassandra, Melissa Fletcher Berry and husband, Shane; great-grandchildren, Brandon Fletcher and wife, Alison, Blake Fletcher, Breighlynn Barnes, Emma Kate Connor, Ava Lily Fletcher and Abigail Grace Connor.

Tommy was a longtime musician and a member of the Shreveport Southern Songwriters Guild, he performed at the Louisiana Hayride. He was also a lifetime member of the Shreveport Federation of Musicians.

Honoring Tommy as pallbearers will be; Shane Berry, Bill Causey, Joe Cooper, John Howe, Ray Horton and Michael Moss.
