Catherine Carter Obituary

Catherine "Claire" Bolls Carter

Pensacola, FL/Bossier City, LA - Catherine "Claire" Bolls Carter, 59, died on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 after a year long fight with cancer. The daughter of Colonel Dillard D. Bolls and Margaret Owen Bolls, Claire was born on Barksdale Air Force Base and lived in the Shreveport/Bossier City area for about 45 years. Claire attended Bossier High School, graduating in 1973. In search of warmer weather, Claire moved to Pensacola, Florida in 2004 and married her childhood sweetheart, Michael Carter, on October 10, 2006.

Claire had an infectious smile and was loved and admired by all she met. Claire was a warm and engaging person who gave you her full attention when you visited with her. She treated all with respect and never spoke unkindly of anyone. This is a unique trait and Claire did it well. She will be deeply missed by family and friends.

Claire enjoyed reading and listening to classic rock and roll, jazz and blues music. Claire also enjoyed traveling. She loved getting off the Interstate highways, taking the old roads, and driving through old cemeteries to find those great markers and statutes. A few years back, she decided she really liked angel statues, so she haunted cemeteries across the southern U. S. looking for angels. After moving to Pensacola, Claire continued her father's pursuit of their family genealogy. She spent hours on the internet, in libraries, city halls and old cemeteries looking for that elusive clue. Claire also enjoyed "spur of the moment" trips. A trip to Tampa to check out angels, a trip into Mississippi on the Tamale Trail looking for the perfect tamale or trips to the south Louisiana swamps looking for alligators, plantation homes, spoonbills, good Cajun food, and Troy Landry from the Swamp People television program.

Those that knew Claire would call her a risk taker. If it was within her capabilities she would try it, with one exception, she would not try sushi, no matter what her husband Mike did to try and convince her it was a good idea!

She is survived by her husband, Michael Lewis Carter, sister Diane Roberts (Sam) of Bulverde, TX and two brothers, Bob Bolls (Deb) of Mechanicsburg, PA and James Bolls (Donna) of Louisville, KY.

Services will be private.

To the family of Claire, My prayers to you all during this time of loss. I knew Claire and Diane in my high school days and I have many fond memories of those days. Claire and I crossed paths back in the early 80's when I worked for UPS and she was a customer that lived on my route. She always had a positive attitude. I'm so so sorry for your loss and I pray God brings peace and healing to your hearts.
