This was a great man. I met him at Jackson Barracks of New Orleans in 1975. He made a difference in my life and helped me to get a fresh start in life. I will always have love and respect for this man. My prayers are with you Mrs. Jane and to all of the family. I would love to hear from you all Allen, Dan Marty, and Bill. God bless and comfort you all. I will deeply miss my friend.

I am so sorry for your family's loss. I met him when I was a teenager in the 80's. We lived in the home he grew up in, in Dixie. He was always such a kind person. God Bless you all.

This Commander and Chief of the most imporant defense of our country and a real BUDDY will be missed, as he had become my friend at Ellerbe Road United Methodist, and had known him through the years for his find leadership. So many have stood up for our Country and fought for our Liberties. We come so many walks of life, but are so blessed to have the company of so many dear loving friends. I am truly fortunate to have met and know him personally. He also sang the wonderful small choir at Ellerbe, and was A Great American Citizen, Friend and Defender of our Liberties, which touch all of us, what ever culture, faith, or nationality, etc. We are children of God. It is is so interesting that as we walk through life, how important it is to just be a friend, to support each other, and think positive, expect the best, and transform our power for peace. Serving on the Board of Discipleship of the United Methodist Church Conference, Family Life Chair, I feel so United through all the Methodist Churches. Being part of a smaller church which I love and need, but realizing the impact of what we as Christians can do to Unite for those all over the world, but stand our ground for our liberties, and freedoms with our God, It is wonderful to get up start a new day, know there have been, and are people in our lives like this Wonderful Major General. The Final Salute
Brothers in Arms, Military men and women down through the centuries, have traditionally exchanged Hand Salutes as a sign of recognition and as a way to render courtesy and respect one to another.
This Hand Salute is the last that we shall render to Maj.Gen A. M. (Buddy) Stroud, Jr. our Brother-in-Arms. To his family it symbolizes the love and respect that we have for Gen. Stroud. And to Gen. Stroud it is rendered as a symbol of honor and gratitude to thank him for the devoted and selfless service he rendered to his country during WW-II and the Korean and Vietnam Wars while serving in the active U.S. Army and the Louisiana Army National Guard. Gen. Stroud, we commend you for your honorable service to our nation and our state. You are a true patriot, who served with honor and distinction. You upheld the finest qualities of an American patriot warrior: courage, commitment, generosity, sacrifice, love and devotion to family and country. You were a true friend. We bid you a sad farewell. You will be dearly missed from among our ranks. Be at Ease. Rest in Peace.
On behalf of the 961 military veteran Legionnaires of Lowe-McFarlane Post 14 of the American Legion and the 233 veterans of VFW Post 2238 in Shreveport, Louisiana, we extend our sympathies and our condolences to Gen. Stroud's family and loved ones.
