BETHANY, LA-Funeral services celebrating the life of Betty Jo Johnson Wallace Mercer, 74, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 11, 2013 at Liberty Missionary Baptist Church on Colquitt Road. Officiating will be Brother Joe Brown. Interment will follow in Forest Park St. Vincent Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Sunday, March 10, 2013 at the church.
Betty was born on September 25, 1938 in Marion, LA to George and Nannie Ray Johnson and passed away on March 7, 2013 in Shreveport. She was a resident of Bethany, LA and homemaker. She was an active member of Liberty Missionary Baptist Church and of the LMBIS Choir.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Marvin Wallace; sisters, Florene Baker and Bobbie Sims; brother, James Johnson. Left to cherish her memory is her husband, R.B. Mercer; son, Marlon Joe Wallace; daughter, Marvette Wallace Boggs; stepdaughters, Kyrenda Lampton and Terry Miller; sister, Irene Griffin; grandsons, Ryan Joseph Self, Davis Allen Self and Jordan Alan Self; great-grandchildren, Angel Marie Self and Kingston Rylee Self; numerous nieces and nephews; her lifelong friend, Carolyn Dorris
Pallbearers will be her grandsons and Don Dorris, Robert Alamond and Coy Hartsell.
