Betty Carmichael Nims

SHREVEPORT, LA-Services celebrating the life of Betty Carmichael Nims will be held at the First Presbyterian Church Chapel, Shreveport, LA at 12:00 noon on Monday, February 18, 2013. The family will receive visitors from 10 to noon at the church. Officiating will be Valerie Phillips and Rhodes Stipp. Interment will follow at Forest Park Cemetery, St. Vincent Avenue, Shreveport, LA.

Betty was born in Brunswick, GA, November 3, 1923, her family moved to Shreveport, LA in 1927; she graduated from Byrd High School. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church over 80 years.

"Where I'm going there will be no more sadness and tears, only joy to gaze at my Savior's face our Lord Jesus Christ"

She married B. E. Nims on April 5, 1942. They lived in California during WW2 and moved back to Shreveport on 1947. She was a member of the DAR Pelican Chapter. She was a Pink Lady for 17 years at Schumpert Hospital and was a Secretary for her husband's business until he retired.

Betty is survived by two sons, Leon and Gene and his wife, Debbie Nims, daughter, Brenda Nims and her husband, Robert Ajluni, three grandsons, Brian, Cole and Quintan.

Betty's family would like to thank Dr. Charles Powers and Sherri for their wonderful care.

Honoring Betty as pallbearers will be Jim Briggs, Rob Ajluni, Leon Nims, Gene Nims, John Carmichael and Tom McGee.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorials may be made to Providence House 814 Cotton St. Shreveport, LA 71101,, St. Judes Childrens Hospital 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN. St. Luke's Episcopal Mobile Medical Ministry P.O. Box 53074, Shreveport , LA 71135.
