Services celebrating the life of Caroline Horton McCowen Coon will be held at St. Mark's Episcopal Cathedral at 10am on Friday, March 1, 2013. Officiating the services will be Rev. M.L. Agnew, former Dean of St. Mark's Episcopal Cathedral. Assisting will be Rev. Dr. Rowena White. Interment will be at Forest Park Cemetery St. Vincent Ave. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7pm on Thursday, February 28, 2013 at Rose-Neath Marshall Street. Caroline went peacefully to be with our Lord and Savior Tuesday, February 26, 2013 after braving a lengthy illness. She was born on December 1, 1936 in Rodessa, LA. Caroline was a lifelong resident of Minden, Shreveport and Bossier, LA. She was a graduate of Bossier High School and attended LSU- Shreveport. Caroline was an active member of St. Mark's Episcopal Cathedral since 1970, a member of the Episcopal Church Women, Altar Guild and several other ministries, Women's Junior Service League of Minden, Shreveport Women's Department Club and an associate member of the Barksdale AFB Officer's Wives Club. Caroline was lovingly adored and referred to as "Missy" by her children and grandchildren. She had a kind and generous heart and will be missed by all who knew her.

Caroline was preceded in death by her parents, Cecil Brown Horton and Vida Carlisle Horton Osbaugh , son-in -law Steve Dunphy, and niece, Amy McCowen Leitz and nephew, Rance Horton. Left to cherish her memory is her best friend and loving husband, Wayne Hansford Coon, her daughters, Dawn Dunphy and Karen McCowen, step-daughter, Laura Coon and son, Bret Kaye McCmowen, sister, Margaret Horton and Rev. Dr. Ralyn Parkhill, brother, Raymond C. Horton and Rita, grandchildren, Melissa and Jeff Head, Matthew and Angela Raley, Chris and Regan Brown, Lacy McCowen Ware, great-grandchildren, Jordan Brown, Skyler Raley, Parker Ware, Madelyn and Ryan Head, Harmony and Carter Kent Brown, nieces and nephews, John and Ann Marie McCowen, Danny and Lisa McCowen, Meg McCowen, Ray Horton Jr., Rhonda Horton, Rene' Horton and numerous great-nieces and nephews,

Honoring Caroline as pallbearers will be friends and members of St. Mark's Episcopal Cathedral. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be grandsons and nephews.

Caroline's family would like to thank all the healthcare professionals and staff for their care of Caroline over the years, and also a very special thanks to Sarah, who was her dear and precious friend and caregiver for over 13 years, Sarah Williams. The family would also like to extend their appreciation to Care Supervisor Michi Green and Care Manager Lawanda Gideon.
