Cecil R. Garrison

HOUSTON, TX - Cecil R. Garrison, of Houston, Texas, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on October 15, 2013, at the age of 94. Cecil was born in Garrison, Texas on August 3, 1919, grew up in Shreveport, Louisiana and later moved to Houston in 1975. He was a devoted husband, father and friend. He will always be remembered for his gentle nature and sense of humor, as well his sense of integrity and love of his family. He treasured pictures and memories of his life and shared them often with his family. He has been a member of Tallowood Baptist Church of Houston, Texas for the last 38 years.

He graduated from Centenary College in Shreveport in 1940 with a B.A. degree in Commerce. Cecil served in WWII in England in the 100th Bomb Group. He was a dedicated worker at United Gas Pipeline for 41 years.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Naoma of 63 years. He is survived by sons, Philip and wife, Pam, of Houston, Texas, Paul and wife, Estelee, of Houston, Texas; grandchildren, Alicia, of Houston, Texas and Alan, of Keller, Texas; brother-in-law, Edward Smith and wife, Marian, of Missouri City, Texas; and nieces and nephew.

Visitation with the family will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, October 18th, at Osborn Funeral Home, at 3631 Southern Avenue in Shreveport, Louisiana. Services will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 19, in the Chapel of Osborn. Officiating will be Dr. Carl Rhoads of First United Methodist Church, Shreveport. Interment will follow at Forest Park Cemetery, St. Vincent in Shreveport.
