Colonel Walter S. King

Colonel Walter S. King, 92, of Shreveport, Louisiana, passed away on Thursday, February 6, 2014, at The Oaks of Louisiana.

Colonel King is survived by a wife, Joyce; two children: Norman Eugene, his wife Lee; and Mark Stephen, his wife Sherry. He also leaves behind four grandchildren: Ashlee King Thomas and husband, Chris; Jordann King; J. C. Huckabee and wife, Brandi; and Danielle Johnson and husband, Clint; five great-grandchildren, Austin Michael Ballard, Morgan Elizabeth Huckabee, Tyson Stephen Johnson, Luke David Thomas, and Emilee Grace Thomas and a host of relatives and friends.

He was born in Carroll, Maine, on June 2, 1921, to the late Ralph and Olive King. He married Joyce Elsie Alexander on September 10, 1947.

Colonel King served 28 years with the United States Air Force, is a veteran of World War II, Korean, and Vietnam wars, and retired at March Air Force Base in 1969.

The family wishes to express our gratitude and admiration to the staff and residents at The Tower at The Oaks of Louisiana, to the EMTs of the Shreveport Fire Department, to the doctors, nurses, and medical staff of W-K Pierremont, and the individuals and medical staff of Health Center at Live Oak. Their care and compassion is greatly appreciated.

Memorial services and interment will be in Corona del Mar, California.
