SHREVEPORT, LA-A memorial service celebrating the life of Earnest L. Duzan will be held at 11:30 AM on Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home Chapel on Marshall Street. Officiating will be Mike Whitehead. A graveside service with full military honors will follow at 2:00 PM at Northwest LA Veterans Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday, September 16, 2013 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Rose-Neath Marshall Street.
Earnest was born on May 6, 1930 in Nashville, Arkansas. He went to be with his Heavenly Father on September 12, 2013 in Shreveport, Louisiana at the age of 83. Earnest was preceded in death by his father, Earnest E. Duzan, mother, Mary Ethel Proctor, sister, Betty Jean Duzan Calhoun, grandmother, Sallie "Big Momma" Driskell and aunt, Dorothy Driskell. Left to cherish his precious memory are his loving wife, Kirby Anne Duzan of Shreveport, LA, sons, Jon Damien Duzan of De Berry, TX and Roy Daniel Duzan of Morgantown, WV, daughters, Mary Denise Wilkins of Tyler, TX and Cheri Dianne Brittain of Bossier City, LA, six grandchildren, Chontae Bardwell, Karen Nix, Amanda Wilkins, Will Bardwell and Natalie and Donovan Brittain. Earnest also leaves behind three great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Earnest served in United States Army for 20 years until he retired in February of 1967. He loved God, his country and his family. His presence will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Michael Brittain, Eric Byrd, Lynn Calhoun, Dave Corley, Daniel Duzan, Charlie Ertle, Robert Roden and Bob Wilkins.
