MARSHALLTOWN - Frank Charles Schwartzenburg, Sr. passed away peacefully in the company of his family at 10:45 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013, at his home in Marshalltown, Iowa, just two weeks before his 85th birthday on January 31.
Frank was preceded in death by the great love of his life, Floy May Langford Schwartzenburg, to whom he was married for 57 years. He is survived by and will be deeply missed by his sister, Elaine Schwartzenburg Edwards; his brother, Ralph Errol Schwartzenburg; his six children: Frank Charles Schwartzenburg, Jr. (Gloria) of Woodbridge, Va.; Nada Marie (Robert "Ted") Schwartzenburg Burns of Dallas, Texas; Gail Catherine (Frank) Schwartzenburg Webb of Doha, Qatar and Port Orchard, Wash.; David Errol (Beverley) Schwartzenburg of Lexington Park, Md.; John Walter Van (Debra) Schwartzenburg of Houston and Muldoon, Texas; and Irvin Joseph (Kayleen) Schwartzenburg of Marshalltown IA; his 16 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, relatives and countless friends.
Frank was cremated on Thursday, Jan. 17 after a private family ceremony at the Mitchell Funeral Home in Marshalltown. He will be interred alongside his beloved wife Floy in the Elmwood Cemetery in Wagoner, Okla. this summer after his eldest son Frank Jr. returns from Afghanistan.
