James K. "Jim" McKelvey, Jr.

Shreveport, LA - James K. McKelvey, Jr., 86, "Jim", a dedicated father, husband, brother, and friend was born in Minco, Ok on June 15, 1926. He served his country proudly from 1952 to 1956 as a member of the United States Force. In 1956 he began his career in public accounting and practiced for 55 years in until his retirement from McKelvey & Robison, CPAS in 2011. He was a member of LCPA, AICPA and practiced in Louisiana, Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas.

Jim was preceded in death by his father and mother, James K. and Edith Mooney McKelvey, and son James K. McKelvey, III. He is survived by his wife of 64 years Ruth Ann Hoferer McKelvey, his son, Sean Anthony McKelvey, grandson, Sean Anthony John McKelvey, and sister, Bonnie McKelvey Adams.

Jim was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church serving as trustee, parish council member, and lay Eucharistic minister. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus 4th degree. He was a member of East Ridge Country Club and an avid golfer.

Jim died Friday, December 21, 2012 after a long illness at Heritage Manor Stratmore. The family extends a special thanks to the staff of Heritage Manor Stratmore, Dr. Alan Borne, and his business partner Ardis Robison for their outstanding care.

Graveside service will be at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home, 8801 Mansfield Road, Shreveport, LA at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, December 26, 2012. Officiating will be Father Karl Daigle assisted by Father Murray Clayton. The visitation with family and friends will be following the service at Heritage Manor Stratmore in the Living Room.
