SHREVEPORT, LA - Celebration of Life services for Jerry Lynn Johnson, 65, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 26, 2012, in Centuries Memorial Chapel with Dr. Mark Crook officiating. Interment will immediately follow on the grounds of Centuries Memorial Park, Shreveport, LA. The family will be receiving guests for visitation Friday, May 25, 2012, from the hours of 4-7 p.m. at Centuries.
Jerry Johnson was born November 10, 1946, in Leesville, LA, to the late Paul and Billie Sue Eaves Johnson and was called home May 22, 2012, at his residence in Shreveport, LA. He was raised by his grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Harold Eaves. Mr. Johnson served this grateful nation during Vietnam in the U.S. ARMY. He worked in security with the Willis-Knighton Health Systems, retired from the Shreveport Police Department in 1994, and headed up the Work Release Program under Chief Prator shortly after retirement. Mr. Johnson will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father, and caring grandfather.
Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his mother, grandparents, and his aunt Estel Bush. Left to cherish Jerry's memory and share his stories will be his beloved wife of 44 years, Rosetta (Rose) Ashworth Johnson, two sons; Harold Johnson and wife Rebecca, Robert Johnson, one daughter; Racheal Annette Johnson Edmonds and husband Joey; six grandchildren; Courtney Lynn Johnson, Carly Grace Johnson, Caitlin Rose Johnson, Jackson Hall Edmonds, Taylor Elizabeth Edmonds, and Christopher Wayne Johnson along with many extended family members and numerous loved friends.
Honoring Jerry as pallbearers will be Paul Pickett, Ralph Parker, Roy Don Watts, Jordan DePrang, Marvin McKeever, and Gene Treese. Honorary pallbearers will be his Police Department family.
